This delicious beverage is smooth, creamy and super refreshing. It is loved by children and adults alike. Serve it chilled.
2 cinnamon sticks
3 teaspoons brown sugar, or to taste
3/4 cup/75g instant oatmeal
1 cup/250ml cold low-fat milk
Ground cinnamon, to serve
Place 4 cups/1L water in a pan with the cinnamon sticks, cloves and sugar. Bring to a boil and simmer for 5 minutes, partially covered. Remove from the heat. Remove the cinnamon sticks and cloves with a slotted spoon and discard.
Add the oatmeal and give a good stir. Cover and let cool to room temperature.
Using an electric blender, blend the oatmeal mixture until smooth and creamy, adding the milk. Transfer to a serving pitcher and refrigerate for 4 hours or overnight.
When ready to serve, pour into glasses, and sprinkle with a pinch of ground cinnamon.
Note: Instead of brown sugar, you may use honey or maple syrup.
